![]() Steelcase Strafor12,000sqft conversion for the international furniture maker, with reception and orientation areas, display, lighting and graphics costing £400,000Steelcase Strafor plc commissioned Priestman Architects to create "London WorkLife", a showroom, marketing and business development environment, a resource centre for the network of dealerships and sales teams, and a venue for seminars and corporate entertainment in a listed 1860's railway ticketing office with unusual double heights, high windows and elegant supervisor walkways.A flexible landscape of furniture settings was achieved by forming large openings through the original cross walls. Changing the entry to the mezzanine meant visitors can could get an overview of the space. Glass and steel stairs connect the new mezzanine and walkways to the second floor. The new mezzanine greeting space is a corporate brain with memory, vision and intelligence. Its structure is partly exposed through glass floor panels, and has the sense of floating above the products demonstrating diversity, flexibility and global capability. |
