South Stockholm: two

The first 60,000sqm of a new university campus, comprising teaching facilites, student accomodation and library.

The fully developed campus is arranged as a sequence of open spaces, from a formal garden as a setting to the main building, to a new square with dramatic rock outcrop, to further enclosed spaces in later phases. Buildings are arranged in long rectangular plans, with smaller buildings responding to specific topographic conditions.
The concentration of facilities around a new square is intended to give the University a vibrant urban character, where informal social contact is a high priority.
Dramatic elevations facing Halsovagen, present an identity of modernity, gravitas and dynamism, responding to the needs and aspirations of the future. Buildings are characterised by floating upper floors and spatially active ground and mezzanine floors, whilst all servicing, parking, and hotel access is beneath an expressed plinth, extending the square surface.
The buildings are designed with passive energy saving measures for a long life span, with local environmental controls.
