![]() ScreenzoneThis cross-boundary project concerns the environment and human conditions at the computer screen, the critical location where the real and virtual worlds meet, and where we spend increasing amounts of time communicating, working & enjoying. The project involves the architecture and experience of the ever more significant virtual world as much as the hardware of improving screen technology and changing nature of furniture. It proposes localised control of the mico-climate around the screen, in terms of light, heat, air quality and sound , so as to empower the screenzone user, reduce energy, promote off-site production of sophisticated 'furniture' and simplify the building process and product. As human artifacts and environments tend to become mutually dependant, the project is concerned with the inter-connection of technologies, industries and behaviours. It will address global scale issues, the need for dynamic cities, the human scale, as well as our intuitive understanding and navigation through digital domains. |
